Who You Are Matters
I'm from Duluth, GA. This is a suburb about 20 miles north of Atlanta. I'm going to Seattle, and I'm going to get there in my car since I have a full-time job waiting at Amazon Web Services (AWS). I'm like my parents in that we're all motivated and goal-driven, but also make time for family and other aspects of life besides work. I'm unlike my parents in our approaches to responsibility. I'm doing my best to live life care-free for the next year, while they have assets and family to manage. I also grew up in a more materially blessed and comfortable environment than they did. I developed my expectations for myself through my years of success growing up. I made higher grades and had more ambitious goals (due to my parents) than most of my friends, and I still expect more of myself than most of my hometown friends. Jeff Bezos is an inspiration because of the incredible passion he brings to running his company, and the personal responsibility of maintaining Amazon's success and innovation. David Goggins is also extremely inspirational with how he pushes himself so far beyond the typical person's comfort zone. I feel a special connection to the honey badger, because honey badgers are known to be fearless and are not intimidated by dangerous animals that terrify most other animals their size. I strive to be like the honey badger. I also appreciate the sloth's stress-free approach to life. I similarly strive to remain as stress-free as possible. I love working on my emotional intelligence and perspective on life to live the best life I can. When I think of a childhood encounter with a tree, I mainly think of how I once kicked an ant hill at the base of a tree. I got bit all over the place. My sun sign is 06 degrees Cancer. My moon sign is 26 degrees Leo. My rising sign is 11 degrees Pisces.
Hi Ryan, I really enjoyed your post and have also listed David Goggins as my inspirational figure. I also think it's very important to continue to push yourself past your comfort zone in order to build character and grow. I also liked how you connected to a honey badger because their fearless attitude towards life is what helps them survive.

ReplyDeleteHi Ryan, thank you for sharing this post. I resonate well with your point of being goal driven while making time for family as I believe having success in our endeavors starts with a good support-system. Also, Congratulations on your offer from Amazon!
